"Like many Chelsea properties, we have a number of very large trees. We were spared any damage to our house as many of them cracked and fell during the "Great Ice Storm of 1998" . However, one very large tree close to our house had been giving us increasing concern in recent years. We were sure that it was beginning to fail. Regular visits from our neighbourhood woodpeckers had let us know that the interior of the tree was beginning to rot. We knew that if it fell, it would smash directly into our home. We called Joe Trudeau at Premier Tree Service for a consultation and a quote for its removal. The price was right and within days the task was done!
A fully insured 'team', using appropriate equipment, arrived over a two day period and safely removed the tree ... a climber removed the branches, each of which was guided to the ground ... all of the branches were then chipped and taken away; the log was cut into 16" rounds.. and the stump leveled off to hold a birdbath! I was even able to negotiate having the 16" log rounds split for firewood. I'm happy to have almost three face cords of wood now drying for the winter, lots more light in my yard and the security of knowing that the tree was no longer a danger.
